Why American Guava?
The primary goal of this initiative is to transfer and apply Egypt’s long-standing expertise in cultivating premium guava varieties to the United States. This effort aims to establish a thriving guava industry capable of meeting domestic demand while reducing reliance on imports.
The project proposes a $10 million investment to ultimately replace approximately $3 billion worth of imported guava juice each year. This represents not only an agricultural opportunity but also a strategic step toward national self-sufficiency in guava production and processing.
A key strength of this initiative lies in uniting three families—already based in the United States and holding American citizenship—whose members possess generations of hands-on experience in guava cultivation and management in Egypt. Their combined knowledge and expertise will form the backbone of this endeavor.
The project’s initial phase targets the cultivation of 1200 acres of guava trees annually over the first three years. Thereafter, cultivation will expand by an additional 1200 acres per year until the United States achieves full self-sufficiency in both guava fruit and guava juice production.
